Indonesia's leading pregnancy app with 1M+ downloads, featuring live streaming, a loyalty rewards marketplace, and in-app e-commerce. I initially maintained the native codebase before leading a massive architectural migration to Flutter.
Overview
Teman Bumil is basically a must-have app for mothers-to-be in Indonesia. I spent my first year maintaining the core native features using Objective-C and Kotlin. As the user base grew heavily, we hit a bottleneck. I eventually led the architectural migration to a unified Flutter codebase, which boosted our processing performance by 35% and easily scaled to over 1 million downloads with a 4.8 rating, growing from a pregnancy tracker into a full health & community platform.
Contribution Highlights
My main focus here was driving the architectural migration and building a highly scalable modular system.
1. The Great Flutter Migration
Led the massive migration from Native (iOS/Android) to Flutter. This drastically sped up our feature delivery and eliminated the headache of maintaining two separate codebases.
2. Real-time Expert Consultation
Built a modular MVVM architecture and integrated RocketChat via WebSockets, allowing users to consult with health experts in real-time with zero delay.
3. Loyalty Rewards & E-commerce
Built a loyalty mission system where users earn points for completing pregnancy-related tasks, redeemable in an in-app rewards store, and integrated Xendit as the payment gateway for the in-app e-commerce experience.
4. Community & Live Streaming
Built out the threads & community forum, curated article and tips lists, and shipped media live streaming so users could join live sessions with health experts and other moms.
5. Multi-Provider Login, Push Notifications & CI/CD
Added Google, Apple, and Facebook sign-in for flexible onboarding, wired up push notifications, and set up an automated CI/CD pipeline with unit testing to keep releases fast and reliable.
